With Remote Shutter one of your devices is the camera remote or camera monitor, and the other device would be set up wherever you would like to take a picture as the camera. The Sony a6000, as it is configured from the factory, does not allow the creation of custom shot-brackets its 5-shot-bracket options are limited to a maximum of merely 0.7-EV steps (I need 2-EV steps) and none of the shot-bracket options allows the simultaneous use of a delay timer (to leave a room and/or allow to the camera to return to its original position after the minor disturbance of operating it).Remote Shutter is an application that requires two devices. **I would have much less need of this ability if Sony’s bracketing options were not ridiculously limited.

I am close to trying an Android emulator in Windows 10 ( any suggestions on which would be appropriate for this application, and ideally can run on low RAM?) to test Android “apps” on my Surface Pro PC (either the aforementioned Camoodoo or the discontinued PlayMemories Mobile, or maybe even Imaging Edge Mobile (which is not available when I search Google Play from the ASUS tablet)).

I have tried running Camoodoo on an old ASUS tablet (running Android version 4.4.2), but the program does not finish starting, and I am unsure of how to fix that (I lost the notification stating something about upgrading/installing another program/“app” that was supposedly needed… I wish that I could remember the name, but I remember choosing to not install it, because of the negative comments about it). I would try it, but it is not supported by my current iOS (version 11.4.1), and I am not yet desperate enough to irreversibly “upgrade” to the newest iOS just to try a program that will likely yield more disappointment and frustration (based on the reviews). I searched for PlayMemories Mobile in the App Store (for my iPhone), only to learn that it was no longer available, and it had been replace by Imaging Edge Mobile, which has dismal reviews/ratings (the vast majority are 1-star, and the average is 1.6 out of 5), some specifically stating that it does not work properly with the a6000 camera. I tried Imaging Edge Desktop/Remote on my Surface Pro PC, only to learn that it cannot wirelessly work with the camera (which I confirmed with Sony customer support). When I searched for the PlayMemories programs, I was directed to the Imaging Edge programs that evidently replaced them (I think that this replacement started in… 2018?). I recently purchased my Sony a6000 camera (and numerous accessories) for Real-Estate Photography, with the understanding that I would be able to remotely control it wirelessly from another screened device by using a Sony program made for doing such (I had seen such done in, at minimum, one YouTube video where the PlayMemories Mobile program was used). Ideally, these would be achieved without the additional expenditure of money, but I am interested in learning about anything that currently works.ĭo you, forum members, have any ideas or recent successes regarding this? I need to wirelessly tether a device – ideally my Surface Pro PC/tablet running Windows 10, or even my iPhone – to my Sony a6000 camera such that (in order of importance):ġ) I can remotely** adjust the shutter speed and remotely trigger the shutter/“shoot” to make photographs (with the option to make them as RAW files, not JPEG)Ģ) I can remotely see the “Live View”/what my camera sees, while I am in another room or far away from it I suggest reading the context* before replying.
